Question 2:

Can dry powder inhalers (DPI) also be inhaled with the VORTEX®?

The VORTEX® is a holding chamber for sprays respectively metered dose inhalers. A holding chamber is not needed for DPIs. In this case it is important that the patient is able to generate a sufficient inspiratory flow in order to inhale the respirable particles out of the device.

Question 3:

Which mask is suitable for which age group?

The yellow children's mask can be used by infants up to about 2 years of age and the orange children's mask can be used by children aged 2 and older. Since inhalation is more efficient with a mouthpiece than with a mask, the child should be encouraged to inhale through the mouthpiece as soon as he or she is able to do so.

Question 6:

How many breaths does it take to breathe in all the medication spray in the VORTEX®?

That depends on the inspiratory volume. Since babies and infants have a smaller inspiratory volume, babies younger than 18 months should inhale for 4 to 6 breaths, and infants older than 18 months should inhale for 2 to 4 breaths. Children aged 6 and older, and adults, normally need to take only 1 breath.
